A congressional antitrust investigation will have some stellar power that will testify at hearings later this month, like Amazon CEO Apple. Alphabet (Google / YouTube) and Facebook agreed to speak to lawmakers.
Congress has been cautiously looking at the four tech giants, concerned that their market power is growing beyond acceptable limits. Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Tim Cook of Apple, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and Sundar Pichai of Alphabet will try to allay those fears and moderate any possible downsizing of their businesses.
A date for the technical testimony has not been set, and it has not been determined whether any will appear virtually or in person.
Federal regulators and state attorneys general have multiple investigations running on various antitrust issues surrounding the four tech companies. Its four CEOs may also face questions about other practices, including labor issues and restricting political content.
Amazon’s Bezos has never testified before Congress, but the others have.
