CeeDee wows at Cowboys practice

Despite the scorching summer heat, it was like Christmas morning in north Texas, with the Dallas Cowboys finally back on a football field to open training camp among a blazing staff. And of all the shiny new toys, the one most observers envied for the team to start playing with was first concept pick CeeDee Lamb.

The rookie wide receiver did not disappoint, making the game of the day with a one-handed grip. The Oklahoma product also got some work done by special teams. And although Lamb also coughed up the ball with a fumble before the session was over, there are indications that the Cowboys even have a bona fide weapon in no. 88.

That was not easy in his first NFL practice, as coach Mike McCarthy threw Lamb and at least one other rookie into the fire.

And it did not take long for the rookie to show why he was a surprise after the 17th selection in the April draft. Through an elongated route, Lamb made a snoring one-handed snare from a Roof Prescott pass.

The rookie also put some time with the unit for special teams, specifically felt points. Special teams have always been part of Lamb’s game, and it looks like he’s staying in that capacity as a pro.

On Wednesday, his quarterback showed his enthusiasm for help in the often abused “third phase” of the game.

“Great boy, great athlete, great player,” Prescott yelled at Lamb at the press conference that opened camp this week. ‘Exciting for his future, excited for now and all he can bring this offense now, and man, many years to go. He’s very smart, very talented, like I said, and he wants to learn, whether it’s behind Coop or asking me questions or MG. Or today I heard him talk about how fun special teams were. He will be a great addition to this team and will play an enormous role in our success immediately and in the future. I could not be happier with that choice and could not be happier with the man he is, the young man he is. ”

Lam seems to have made a similar impression on several of the veteran players by the time the work session on Friday was over.

“He’s the same guy I’ve seen on TV for the past two or three years,” said HaHa Clinton-Dix, security, as per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

In any case, the 21-year-old already behaves like an experienced pro and a player who trains in a crowd, even when he’s just standing around.

If the rest of what he did on Friday turns out to be the norm for CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys Nation can probably clearly see their way of forgiving him one fumble at his worst practice.
