Cedar Rapids of Michigan Homicide Suspect Arrested


CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A man wanted as a Michigan murder suspect was arrested in Cedar Rapids, according to federal officials.

Franky Ackley, 23, who was being wanted on murder and weapons charges for an incident that occurred on March 6, was arrested Wednesday. He also faces charges in Iowa for driving with a suspended license, registration violations and interference with official acts.

US sheriffs said they were able to stop Ackley near the 100 block of 20th Avenue SW. Agents appreciated the community’s involvement in providing information to law enforcement following the publication of his name in the media and on digital posters in eastern Iowa.

Jackson, Michigan police said Ackley shot and killed a man in a bar in the early hours of the morning, although they gave no indication of what led to the shooting, according to WILX television station.

Ackley is being held at the Linn County Jail awaiting transfer to Michigan.
