CDC warns of possible listeria outbreak in ‘Hispanic-style’ cheese

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning people that they believe in promoting Hispanic-style cheese, which is linked to the spread of Listeria outbreak in New York.

The agency said on Friday it had not determined the specific source of the virus, but suspected certain cheese was involved.

The agency wrote in an advisory on Friday, “Don’t eat any Hispanic-style fresh and soft cheeses (such as Cuevo Fresco, Cuevo Blanco and Cuevo Panella) unless we know a specific type or brand that makes people sick.” Is. ”

According to the CDC, seven people between the ages of 45 and 75 have fallen ill and were hospitalized.

Six cases were identified this year. Four were found from Maryland, one from Virginia, one from New York and one from Connecticut.

At least four people interviewed by health officials reported eating at least one Hispanic-style fresh cheese before becoming ill.

Pregnant people and people 65 and older are at higher risk of becoming seriously ill with the bacteria and may experience minor symptoms such as fever, fatigue and muscle aches – and as severe as miscarriage, the agency said.

No recall has been issued yet.
