Carrion’s Nintendo Switch icon is … an option

You may not realize it, but some people really care about the Nintendo Switch icons. If a beloved game has a bad icon, there is often a community campaign to ensure the developer updates the icon.

It makes sense. No one wants to look at a giant and ugly work of art every time they start a game, especially for a game they especially like.

This Nintendo Life story highlights some of the biggest icon changes, with some games (like Snake pass and SteamWorld Dig 2) obtaining three different icons over the years.

But there is an icon that can never and should never change, and it is the icon for Carrion. The body horror game inspired by The thing, released Thursday, has players controlling a giant tentacle monster as it rampages through a military base. This is what the icon looks like:

Look, I get it, it’s supposed to be the monster in Carrion. But it also seems, well, something else. Am I going to say what is that other thing? No, I will let you decide. And after deciding, look inside and ask yourself what that decision says about you.

Having said all this, after contacting the editor Devolver Digital to comment on the chosen images, we received a message from a representative that Carrion The change icon is slated to change after launch week, so enjoy it while you can, folks. Whatever is that it is.
