Boston Bruins defender Brandon Carlo was released from hospital after spending Saturday night and Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, who had been suspended for seven games, was released from hospital after being hit in the head.
Wilson was suspended and will miss those games for two weeks after the Zoom hearing to discuss the incident.
Announcing the suspension, the league said: “There is a direct and significant contact on the face and head of the defenseless player that separates the hit from the other, causing a violent impact from the glass.” “This is a player with a special discipline record who is taking advantage of an opponent who is in a defenseless position and does so with considerable force.”

Wilson will be eligible to play when Washington hosts the Rangers on March 20th. He will forfeit 311,782 in salary.
Wilson is one of the league’s most penalized and suspended players, but under a collective bargaining agreement he is not considered a repeat offender because his last suspension was more than 18 months ago. This is his fifth suspension, and Wilson has been fined twice before in his NHL career.
“For me it was a hockey key hit,” said Capitals coach Peter Loviolet after Saturday’s practice in Philadelphia. “If this is a susceptible game, then all the hits will probably have to be eliminated because he didn’t take any action, he didn’t hit the head, one player was in front of the board, he was straight and Tom hit him hard.”
The league’s players’ safety department said the full range of circumstances, from Carlo’s sensitive condition to Wilson’s Angle Up to England – made him a suspenseful game.
“Personally, I think it was a clean hit,” teammate Nick Dowd said. “It certainly didn’t mean hurting Carlo in any way, and I think he pulled it down with his hands and chest and I think how it ended was an unfortunate incident.”
Carlo was injured in the length of the villain’s suspension. Brunswick coach Bruce Cassidy said Carlo was back home and did not participate in practice.

Carlos left in front of Friday night’s game after Wilson hit him late at night in the first period, smashing his head into the glass with his hand and stick. Cassidy calls the hit “Hunter. No penalty was demanded for the play.
Boston’s Trent Frederick and Jared Tinordi both then battled Wilson in the Bruins’ 5-1 win.
