Caribbean cruise passenger tests positive for COVID-19

A passenger aboard the first cruise in the Caribbean tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday after the outbreak began.

Early positives, the results of a quick test on the Cedrim Yacht Club’s Cdrim 1, reported by senior travel reporter Jean Sloan covering the Points Cow trip.

Sloan said the ship’s captain, Torbjorn Lunde, announced the case via Shipwide Intercom in the afternoon as the ship was anchored in the Grenadines.

All passengers and non-essential crews were told to keep separate in their cabins.

Sea Travel 1, which had 53 passengers and 66 crew, began its cruise on Saturday from its home port of Barbados. He will be back there now, Sloane wrote.

The ship was the first Caribbean cruise since March.

Sloan said that to board a ship, all passengers had to undergo a negative test twice – one day before departure and the next day. The third test was to be held on Wednesday.

The passenger traveling in the case felt sick until the test, the captain announced.
