Cards Against Humanity (CAH) employees are unionizing. In a statement released on Twitter today, the workers said they had sent a letter to CAH owners to voluntarily recognize their union under CMRJB Workers United. “The time has come for us to follow in the footsteps of our comrades in The onion, Gawkerand Kickstarter, “says a statement by CAH Workers United.
Cards Against Humanity employees have turned up in recent weeks to discuss a long-standing office culture of racist and sexist behavior, as well as sexual assault allegations against co-founder Max Temkin. The edgebrother site of Polygon spoke to dozens of current and former employees; Many shared stories of how the concerns and ideas of black writers were often ignored, people of color faced regular microaggressions, and many employees feared retaliation, among other problems.
We workers want to change the Cards against Humanity for the better. That is why we have joined @CMRJB. Today we are sending this letter to @CAH owners demanding the voluntary recognition of our union. We are optimistic that they will do the right thing. # 1u pic.twitter.com/idBXUKLIKk

“Our company faces crisis both externally and internally,” says the statement released today. “We have failed to make clear our anti-racist and anti-intolerant values. Within the walls of our office, trust between staff and property has been eroded by years of abusive management. For too long, our employees have been kept in precarious, powerless, and direct toxic conditions. ”
Employees demand measures to “immediately match” their workplace, including giving contractors the option to become full-time workers. “We are optimistic that they will do the right thing,” CAH Workers United tweeted.
