Cardi B approached with a racial slur to describe her daughter’s eyes

To coincide with the release of “WAP”, rapper Cardi B is on the cover of the September issue of Elle magazine. In the accompanying interview, the rapper talks about everything from her passion for politics to her marriage to her most controversial moments, including one where she used a racial slur to describe the eyes of her daughter Kulture.

As noted by BuzzFeed, earlier this summer, Cardi shared a photo of an “adult” Kulture on Instagram and responded to a comment that said the older version of Kulture looked out of Cardi’s sister Hennessey. “I think Hennessy got ch * nky eyes like Offset and such [does] KK. It’s the only thing [thing] I could think, “Cardi wrote. The word Cardi uses to describe her daughter’s eyes is an abusive, racist slur to refer to someone of Asian descent.

As expected, the backlog of fans was quick to Cardi’s original post and it led to Cardi posting a comment via Twitter shortly thereafter. “I do not know everything about everything. We do not even use that as [an] insult and I do not use it as [an] insult. I’m sick of the internet, “she wrote in a now deleted tweet per Buzzfeed.

In their new She interview Cardi treated the use of the word, saying she was unaware of the history behind it and the negative and hurtful connotations. “Back in my life, my 27 years, I never even knew this was a race,” she said She. “I described the eyes of my husband and my sister, and the eyes of my daughter … I do not even know how to describe her eyes anymore, because that was how I described her eyes. I do not even know. “Are they almond-shaped? But it is, I never knew that. And for people to be,” she uses a racial right. She’s disgusting. “And it’s, ‘Bro, I did not even know this was a slur race. I did not say it … with no ill intent.’ ”

Cardi’s choice of words may not have meant a lot, but the situation was a clear reminder to always listen to people’s concerns and to be willing to give up.
