Canadian official resigns after vacation

The Canadian government official resigned after posting a video showing Coronavirus being down at home in Lodge Cadown – while he was actually on vacation in St. Barts.

Ntantario’s finance minister, Ph.D. Phillips, shared a Christmas Eve clip of himself in a sweater, thanking Canadians for chopping grains in front of a fireplace, and for avoiding extravagant travel during the holidays.

Phillips said in the video, “I thank each and every one of you for what we are doing to save your most vulnerable people.”

Other posts on his Twitter account also suggested he was homebound in snowy Nantario, with a photo of himself pouring Canadian maple syrup over pancakes on December 17 and a photo of him visiting local businesses the day before Christmas.

As it turned out, Phillips was actually on the Caribbean island of St. Barts – at least since December 13 in the Newstalk 1010 report, the favorite playground of the rich and famous.

Opposition parties and health officials have called for Phillips to be fired.

He was ordered to return to Nantario, and Premier Doug Ford promised to have a “very strict conversation” with Phillips when he returned on Thursday.

Later on Thursday, Ford said he had accepted Phillips’ resignation

In a statement, Phillips said he regrets taking a vacation on the beach.

“It was a mistake and I apologize,” he admitted. “I went out in person after the end of the legislative session on December 13 to pay St. Barts.”

At Pearson Airport on Thursday, he told reporters he had traveled and made a “dumb, dumb mistake,” the CBC reported.

“I make no excuses for the fact that I traveled when I shouldn’t have traveled.”
