Cameron County officials close county beach access areas on South Padre Island



On Monday, Cameron County officials said they will begin closing beach access points on South Padre Island beginning Tuesday due to the increase in coronavirus cases. County parks will also be closed, authorities said.

The closings begin at 7 tonight and will remain closed until 12:01 am on July 13, according to Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr.’s amended emergency order. A 10-hour curfew has been established. pm to 6 am for minor children. from 17. There is a curfew from 11 pm to 5 am for adults.



Residents will only be able to drive during curfew hours if they head to work, have an emergency, or return from an out-of-town trip, the order states.
