A recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 teaser has hinted at the return of a prominent character from Modern Warfare 2, presumably through season 5 of the aforementioned games. Infinity Ward and Activision have been sparking Season 5 through various popular content creators within the Call of Duty community. Until now, the teasing has been vague in substance, but rich in implication. However, there is one detail about a preview, in particular, that seems to have gone unnoticed by most, but not Modern Warzone.
Earlier this week, the sole Nick Mercs released a season 5 teaser. The teaser itself wasn’t all that interesting, but the bundle Activision sent him along with the teaser did. If you haven’t seen it yet, Mercs was sent a large rook chess piece. This is what the USB drive housed with the advance it released.
Why is this relevant? Well, obviously it’s a deliberate clue to something, and that something seems to be a clue to the return of Rook, a member of Task Force 141 in Modern Warfare 2, who ultimately found a disappearance at the hands of the Shadow Company.
However, where things get complicated is that the Shadow Company logo is a tower. In other words, it is unclear if this is a Shadow Company provocation or a Rook provocation. Of course, it may be a provocation for both of you. Whatever the case, what is clear is that it is a Modern Warfare 2 bother.
Today @NICKMERCS gave us a preview of Season 5 of #ModernWarfare and #Warzone.
You received this in a package containing a large rook chess piece, with a hollow bottom with a USB drive inside. 👀

At the moment, it’s unclear what the heck is going on, but we should know next month when Season 5 launches in Modern war and War zone.
