The latest teaser for the new 2020 Call of Duty game appears to have confirmed its rumored 1960s setting. We’ll probably return to an espionage Cold War Black Ops shooter after the last few games of Treyarch took us into the future. It turns out we can have at least a few more days before we learn the truth though. And that truth, as we should expect in 2020, seems to be out there in a battle royale game.
A teaser site revealed that placed a 12:00 clock in its corner has now revealed a new image. The image has the date of today and “1961-1962” on the top of a piece of paper. The rest of the content has been restored, but it certainly fits in with the mysterious and intriguing Black Ops games. In the first entry, it was heavily implied that the brainwashed protagonist was involved in the JFK murder.
A video on the teaser page contains several references to the Cold War and nuclear weapons, and visiting one of the URLs on a sticky note also includes a brief letter detail strategy and a cryptic message about field trips won before fighting. The video, which seems to have changed after a few hours, also discussed tensions in East Germany and the importance of the space race, including a speech by JFK. Fidel Castro’s Cuba received multiple mentions, and he was featured in the first Black Ops game.
The new image comes after foreign locked boxes were sent to media outlets. After opening it earlier this week, it was found that it contained anti-style slide projectors that added more fuel to the Black Ops fire. Players in Call of Duty: Warzone have gathered the clues and are trying to open bunkers on the map.
With “Day One” also appearing on paper, it’s likely we’ll get several more of these teasers before the full game is officially revealed. Call of Duty games are typically unveiled around May every year, so Activision is definitely cutting a lot closer this time around.
