Call of Duty 2020 appears in Microsoft Store with the same codename of Red Door

The Red Door has found a new home, this time on Xbox.

The Red Gate is believed to be the code name for Call of Duty 2020. The same code name was detected on PSN last month, when alpha development builds made it to Sony’s servers.

Things have been quiet since then; the original roster remains, and Activision has yet to officially launch this year’s Call of Duty. Now, Microsoft Store has entered that code-naming action. The Red Door now has its own page in the store, with the same red lock cover. Activision is listed as its editor, should there be any doubt.

This particular listing is strictly for the Xbox One version, with a file size of 81.65GB, similar to that of PSN. It also has the same mature rating expected from Call of Duty games.

Then there’s this placeholder description, or maybe it’s actually a reference to the game’s history.

“There is more than one truth. If you are looking for answers, be prepared to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits you, do you dare to cross it? it reads.

This could indicate that we are approaching the proper Call of Duty 2020 reveal, but it could be a bug from the Microsoft Store (it has had some of those lately). At that point in the year, all previous Call of Duty games had already been revealed. In fact, July is usually closer to the beta version of the game, after weeks of news.

The execution theory is that Activision can present the reveal in Warzone, perhaps through some kind of in-game event. Reports suggest that Warzone’s upcoming season 5, slated for the first week of August, is bringing the most drastic changes to the Warzone map so far, and players have unearthed references to Frank Woods, so it might be where We headed.

This year’s game is said to be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
