As VG247 pointed out, we’ve seen The Red Door before, when it appeared on the PS4 database website with a content id containing the string “COD2020”. It is unclear exactly what is happening here, but it could be Activision sharing in-development builds of the game, a practice that is common in the gaming industry: last month we saw an early version of Gods and Monsters leak into Google Stadia.
The Call of Duty Modern Warzone news account tweeted today that they had received a “threatening email” from Activision after using The Red Door’s listing image, suggesting there is some credibility behind this leak and the control of Activision on it.
I just got a pretty threatening email from Activision about our Red Door article at https://t.co/5blsXeU6Ga.
Apparently, using the “red door” image that everyone uses is infringing on their rights. So I would advise anyone who has used it to remove it. pic.twitter.com/mqYT3ITEqP

In May, a series of reports suggested that this year’s cash on delivery game was titled Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and that the game would return the series to the late 20th century historical setting it had previously inhabited. All of this suggests that Activision is looking forward to revealing this year’s Call of Duty game, so check out this space for more news on that front.
