California police search for a woman who deliberately coughed up a 1-year-old boy

California police are looking for a woman accused of deliberately coughing up another woman and her 1-year-old baby in a local Yogurtland.

A woman identified as a white woman in her 60s coughed on the woman and her baby after she was upset that the woman was not maintaining adequate social distance, San Jose police said in a statement Monday.

Police released surveillance video of the incident showing the woman removing her mask, appearing to cough at the woman and a stroller two or three times. The boy was in the stroller at the time.

The woman left the scene and has not been identified or detained, police said.

Police asked the public to call with any information about the woman.

The woman who coughed said she believes the event may have been motivated by race.

“I think this woman may be racist because the family in front of her is white. My grandmother and I are Hispanic and she started telling me about my distance and harassing me and my son once I started to speak Spanish with my grandmother, “the woman, Mireya Mora, told the ABC News KGO station in San Francisco. .
