Byron in, Jimmie Johnson out after Kansas Cup race – EssentiallySports

In Kansas, Jimmie Johnson, who was hanging by a thread in the NASCAR playoffs earlier, had a bad day and retired from last place in the playoffs. However, his teammate William Byron managed to get a ‘Top 10’ finish to enter the playoff list.

Hamlin currently ranks first in the points table. After his fifth win of the season at Kansas, he is just a few points ahead of Kevin Harvick in second place.

However, if Harvick had maintained his lead in the final laps at Kansas and won the race, he could have had a dominant advantage over Hamlin at this point.

After that, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano have two career victories this season and sit comfortably in third and fourth place, respectively.

In addition, all the winners of this season are safe in the ‘Top-10’. And the chances of any major change in your position are remarkably low.

Last year’s Cup series champion Kyle Busch had a bad luck bump and was able to claim a stage win only recently. He sits at number 12 behind Aric Almirola. Kyle’s brother Kurt Busch also had a stage victory in 2020 and is 13th.

Jimmie Johnson still in the race for a spot in the NASCAR playoffs

Despite leaving the Top-16, Johnson is still in a place to take his seat in the playoffs. The last place is occupied by his teammate Byron.

Reddick, Jones and Johnson are within reach. Reddick is 10 points, Jones 12 points and Johnson 18 points.

People believe that a series of possible wildcard performances can still change the bottom line. And the circuit and oval races at Daytona are the must-see.

Bubba Wallace sits in 20th place, but things are not looking good for him as he is 100 points away.
