Bungie has delayed the newest Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond the lightAs of November 10, the developer announced in a blog post on Thursday. The studio originally intended to launch the expansion on September 22. Bungie promised more communication about the next Beyond the light features in the coming months and information on how this new plan will affect Season of Arrivals, the current season of the game. Season of Arrivals will now run until November 10.
In his blog post, Bungie blamed the COVID-19 pandemic for the delay and said, “The past few months have been challenging and will continue to be during this pandemic. We have learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from each other. Despite these obstacles, we are still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect. ”
Destination 2: beyond the light is what Bungie calls “the first chapter of a new expansion trilogy”, continuing with The queen witch next year and Lightfall after that. Beyond the light It is the first expansion to introduce Destiny Content Vault, which will remove four planets from the game in November. It is also the first expansion in Destiny’s history to add a whole new element: Stasis. We currently know very little about this new power set.
It is not clear how this delay will affect the next generation versions of Destiny 2, scheduled for release later this year.
David “Deej” Dague, the head of the Destiny community team, announced that the studio’s This Week at Bungie blog would appear earlier than normal and could contain more details on the delay. We will update this publication with any relevant information.
