There are things that are not traded anywhere in the world. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia (RSM) Zoran Zaev, quoted by the MIA agency on the occasion of the negotiations with Bulgaria, from which they want support for accession to the EU, but dispute historical facts and personalities.
The Republic of North Macedonia’s first intergovernmental conference with the EU is likely to fail, he said.

According to Zaev, RSM is doing everything possible to find a solution with Bulgaria.
“And the Bulgarian side understands that our identity, our Macedonian language is our sentiment, our right. States don’t negotiate these thingsSo we continue to look for solutions that, of course, will be acceptable to both parties, “Zaev said.
The Macedonian Prime Minister said that this issue should not be “politicized”, but above all it must be the interest of the state.

“I am not saying that we will reach an agreement, I said that there is a high probability that we will not reach an agreement. We remain optimisticbecause through optimism we can be really creative and find a solution, “said Zaev.
For his part, the Chancellor of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, said that the only way to resolve the differences with Bulgaria is to restore confidence in the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighbor.
Osmani declined to predict the outcome of the talks between Sofia and SkopjeBut he said that his country is doing everything possible to present state interests in the best light and to find common ground with Bulgaria.
Zaharieva is baffled by North Macedonia’s demonization of Bulgaria
She insists that hatred of neighbor cannot be fed
“The talks continue, I don’t know how they will end. Until the last second, we will try to present our position and bring our eyes closer. The only solution is to restore confidence in the Friendship Treaty, a document that guarantees that everything in dispute will be resolved, ”said the chancellor, who emphasized that the failure of Skopje would be a failure for both Sofia and Brussels.
We remind you that the multidisciplinary joint commission of experts on historical and educational issues of Bulgaria and North Macedonia was established as a result of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbor and Cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia, signed on August 1, 2017 and which came into effect on February 14. 2018
The first meeting of the commission made little progress on Antiquity and the Middle Ages, but no agreement was reached on the Gotse Delchev issue.
The stumbling block in the work of the experts is precisely the personality of Gotse Delchev. The Bulgarian side of the commission refused to accept the two countries together to celebrate the feast of the legendary IMRO figure and ideologue on October 7, when his bones were delivered to Skopje by Georgi Dimitrov.
In early October, Bulgaria set the conditions for North Macedonia to receive our support for EU membership. One of them is North Macedonia to achieve concrete results on the subject of important events and historical figures in our common history: Gotse Delchev, Ilinden-Preobrazhensko uprising and others.
After the September 13 meeting, which has been described as “the most unsuccessful” to date, President Rumen Radev called an urgent consultative meeting, in which he insisted that red lines be drawn for North Macedonia.
On May 2, 2020, it became clear that Macedonia had unilaterally ended the talks on our common history.
After a pause on October 16, 2020, the Bulgarian-Macedonian Joint Commission for Historical Affairs has made progress in developing a common position on the May 24 issue, the writing and work of Saints Brothers Cyril and Methodius. This is the only one of the 14 history textbook-related notes that has progressed.
