The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, expressed disappointment at the Bulgarian veto, noting that Bulgaria’s behavior is not in line with European values. His attitude, as Zaev puts it, is offensive to the entire Macedonian people, FOCUS reported, citing Skopje television channel TV 21.

“It just came to our notice then. Bulgaria vetoed, violated the neighborhood agreement and stood in the way of our European integration, for which in many cases all countries have confirmed that we meet the conditions. This is not a European approach, Bulgaria has not mustered the strength to behave like a European. They made a gesture that showed neither friendship nor brotherhood. Their attitude is offensive to all of our people, “said Zaev, adding that today it is neither European nor democratic to impose on someone how to feel and how to express yourself.

Zaev: The EU has recognized our language

“In the 21st century, it is neither European nor democratic to tell someone how to feel, how to behave. It is not European to impose the identity of another nation. These conditions are not acceptable to North Macedonia and the Macedonian people. That is why we stood firm in defense of the national interests of Macedonia. We did not allow the Macedonian identity to be crossed out, “said Zoran Zaev.
