We have the first blockade of Bulgaria. Today, art. 2 of the contract, we have not violated anything so far. This is the first unpleasant feeling. We must be reasonable and resolve the dispute amicably, said North Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
Today an unfriendly message was sent from neighboring Bulgaria, the first step was blocked.
According to art. 2 of the Neighborhood Agreement, Bulgaria must support us on the path of integration. “Bulgaria will share its experience to help the Republic of Macedonia meet the necessary criteria for membership of the European Union and support the Republic of Macedonia to receive an invitation to join NATO in accordance with the relevant decisions of the summits. NATO, “the statement read. Art. 2, article 2 of the contract.
“I am happy to have the support of Germany,” said Zaev.
According to him, it should not be dramatized, despite the fact that the message from the Bulgarian side is not positive. The prime minister is optimistic that during the next two meetings of the working groups the positions may converge and expects a positive outcome from the meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Monday.
Zaev recalled that there is an intense dialogue between the two countries, especially between the two foreign ministries, expressing confidence that a solution will be found, BGNES reported.
The Macedonian Prime Minister reiterated that no new agreement or annex will be reached, but this is an explanation that can be given in the form of a statement, in writing or orally, with the ultimate goal of moving things forward.
We have a contract in which we must take advantage of all those important and promising moments that exist in it. This is the model that we have a part of history that is common and part of it is separate. We must use the common history model and through it find the paths of what we want to establish. If we are smart, what we signed in 2017 can be a great opportunity to find a solution. The historical problems must be solved by the commission and we see that it works, “emphasized Zaev.
The next meeting of the Bulgarian-Macedonian Joint Commission is scheduled for December 5 and 5 more meetings are scheduled for next year.
“I am convinced that the Bulgarian people think about the good of the Macedonian people. I believe that the Bulgarian government and President Rumen Radev, at the end of the day, will want to help North Macedonia’s integration into the EU and this will work. We remain faithful. to friendship and the whole process, because only friendship brings progress, prospects and benefits both for the citizens of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia and for the citizens of Bulgaria and I believe that the talks will continue in this spirit. I believe that with the help of the German presidency in December we will be able to hold the first intergovernmental conference, “said Zaev.
