A new late drama brought CSKA’s victory over Slavia. The Reds, who played with one man less in the second half, succeeded after an own goal by Ventsislav Bengyuzov in the 93rd minute.
In the third consecutive game for the “Bulgarian Army”, CSKA emerged the winner after a goal in added time.
With their success, the Reds accumulated ten points and topped the rankings. After four rounds, Stamen Belchev’s team leads by one point ahead of Ludogorets and Lokomotiv (Plovdiv). With one draw and three losses, Slavia is only 13, with only Etar behind Zlatomir Zagorcic’s team.
The game offered a lot of battle and few scoring opportunities. Players from both teams received a total of nine yellow cards and one red.
At first, Ahmed Ahmedov went into shooting position in the penalty area, as his header was blocked by “Slavia” goalkeeper Antonis Steriakis. In the 32nd minute Ali Sow escaped behind the defense and shot with his left foot, but the ball went out the door.
At the end of the first half, Yunus Sankare was sent off. The CSKA midfielder received two yellow cards in less than three minutes for infractions.
Slavia does not take advantage of its numerical advantage. Sometimes CSKA seemed like the best team on the field.
This led to the 93rd minute, when the only goal of the match fell. Bradley Maziku slipped down the left and returned the ball, but it deflected off Bengyuzov’s leg and surprised the goalkeeper.
