IN So far, the European Union has approved three vaccines: Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna (mRNA vaccines) and the AstraZeneca vaccine, which uses another technology (vector).
For now, however, we cannot choose which of the approved vaccines we want to immunize with. In NOVA’s column “Ask About Vaccines,” Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev announced that this election will be possible in the summer or early fall.
“If the patient refuses because the vaccine is from Moderna or AstraZeneca, I personally will not insist that they get vaccinated at any cost, but I will comply with their wishes,” said Dr. Desislava Georgieva, who said that more and more patients want to be vaccinated against COVID-19, but with one condition: choose which vaccine.
Due to limited quantities in supplies, the GP is skeptical that we will soon be able to choose with which preparation to immunize ourselves.
“My opinion is that we will not have a choice, but it will be what the state provides.”
Waiting for the desired vaccine will take several months, warns the chief state health inspector.
“At the moment there is no real option, there will be one with the entry of one or two more vaccines, which is quite close in a month. So literally in the summer or early autumn we will have everything that Bulgaria has signed a contract, “he said. Angel Kunchev.
Health authorities say that if a patient refuses to be vaccinated with a specific drug, they will not lose the right to be vaccinated.
We remind you that the Ministry of Health explainedthat the immunization of the second and third phases of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 will be carried out in parallel.
The Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine will be offered to the members of the Central Election Commission, the district and section commissions, with which the third phase of the Plan has begun. This ensures that immunization is completed with two doses of the vaccine and, on the other hand, on election day, those involved in the conduct of the elections are protected to the maximum from the virus. The overlapping of phases allows to immunize Bulgarian journalists, cameramen and photojournalists in the third phase of the Plan. The third phase will continue with employees of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant, water supply and sewerage companies employed in the transport and communication sectors, front-line policemen, etc.
Vaccination of vulnerable groups it remains one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Health. Therefore, the end of the third phase of the National Vaccination Plan will be covered at the beginning of the fourth. In this phase, those covered by immunization will be “people over 65 years of age and people with concomitant chronic diseases due to the more severe course of the disease and the increased risk of developing complications and death, including immunosuppressed or with secondary immunodeficiencies.
