Facebook page of Manfred weber is inundated with angry comments from protesting Bulgarians asking the chairman of the EPP group in the European Parliament: why do you support Borissov and the mafia in Bulgaria?
Weber’s last post was yesterday, September 7, where he took a position on the actions of Turkish President Erdogan and the position of Europe, Epicenter noted. Under the question “Will Europe remain impotent against Erdogan?”, Weber denounced the illegal actions of the Turkish president, who, according to Weber, seized the right to expand his country’s activity in the exploration of hydrocarbons in Greek waters, threatened France and Greece, etc. .
However, under Weber’s position on Erdogan, comments are coming in from protesting Bulgarians, referring to the situation in Bulgaria and Prime Minister Borissov. There are already more than 600 of them, and this is not the only publication of the former Spitz candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly, flooded with uncomfortable questions.
We recall that in early July, Weber supported Borissov, since his opinion was announced at the first counter-meeting in defense of the government after the invitation to join ERM II. Since then there have been no other official EPP positions.
Now the Bulgarians have drastically increased their activity.
These are some of the comments:
“Mr. Weber, you support the mafia, which is destroying all of Bulgaria. Your position is a disgrace.”
“And what about neighboring Bulgaria from Bulgaria?” Do you realize that you support a dictator? Is it hypocrisy to support one dictator and speak out against another?
“Mr. Weber, any talk about ‘European values’ and ‘being united’ that comes out of your mouth is blatant hypocrisy.”
“Dear Manfred, thousands of Bulgarians have sent you messages asking, ‘Why do you support Borissov’s corruption?’ We are still waiting for your reply. “
“Why is Europe blind to the dictatorship in Bulgaria?”
The vast majority of publications are in English.
A letter (in German and Bulgarian) is distributed on the social network that all Bulgarians can send to Weber.
He says:
“We believe in European values and the rule of law! We believe in the meaning of the separation of powers and freedom of the press!
Unfortunately, unprecedented and disproportionate violence against citizens and journalists is taking place in Bulgaria, limiting their right to protest and media coverage.
We do not want to think that in your assessments of what is happening in Bulgaria, you are driven by narrow partisan interests and an attempt to save the bad image of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, whose party belongs to the political family of the European People’s Party. It does not only harm us, but the entire European Union.
We will not give up and you still have the opportunity to change your position so as not to turn the European Union into a front democracy, as is the current democracy in Bulgaria ”.
The letter was also uploaded to Weber’s Facebook profile, Epicenter notes.
For comparison, before the crisis in Bulgaria, there were about ten comments on Weber’s posts on the social network. Now there are hundreds and all of them Bulgarians.
Weber’s phone is also being distributed, which anyone can call. So far, there has been no reaction from the leader of the EPP faction in the European Parliament.
