Maxim Hristov Minchev was a Bulgarian journalist, CEO of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA). The died at the age of 67 after a brief illness with COVID-19.
Maxim Minchev was born on June 5, 1953 in Sofia. In 1972-1976 he graduated in Journalism from the University of Lviv. In 1983-1986 he studied Pedagogy at the Georgi Rakovski Military Academy. From 1993 to 1996 he was a member of NATO at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Since 1991 he has been a member of the Board of Directors and press director of the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, and a member of the Council of the Euro-Atlantic Association for International Politics and Security.
Since 2003 he has been the Director General of the Bulgarian Telegraphic Agency (BTA). In 2016, he became General Secretary of NAWC (World Council of News Agencies). In 2016, he became president of EANA (Association of News Agencies of the Balkans and Southeast Europe) and BSANNA (Association of News Agencies of the Black Sea Region).
He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBW), the Union of Bulgarian Writers (UBW) and the International Organization of Journalists (IOJ).
