The World Health Organization has advised UEFA not to organize international tournaments and matches in Europe until at least next summer, writes the Italian newspaper La República.

The recommendation was made during a video conference with the participation of UEFA and the main clubs of the Old Continent.

The WHO fears that international parties and the associated travel of large groups of people between countries may trigger a second wave of the pandemic in Europe.

It has already been established that the Champions League match is the cause of the spread of the virus in Bergamo – Atalanta – Valencia.

There are doubts that the race duels had the same effect in France and England: Liverpool against Atlético and PSG against Borussia Dortmund.

The WHO council should return to the calendar only at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, which is July and August of next year.

A working group has already been established at UEFA to review and discuss all possible options.

Everyone is already convinced that a Champions League match has unlocked Hell in Bergamo

However, even the current season in the Champions League and Europa League is on the agenda.

On Tuesday, a UEFA meeting with representatives of the 55 national federations via video link discussed a possible restart of the two tournaments in August.

There’s even a set date for the Champions League final: August 29 in Istanbul. Three days earlier, the trophy match in the Europa League in Gdansk must also be played.

National championships in almost all countries are expected to be renewed in June or July, with the exception of Belgium and probably the Netherlands. They announced that they would prefer to end the football seasons.
