Bulgaria’s second-largest city, Plovdiv, returns some of the measures in an attempt to cope with the growing number of COVID-19 patients. The decision was made by the local authorities. Mass inspections for mask use begin today.
We crossed the limit of 1000 new infected per day.
“Given the increasing number of positive samples and the filling of hospitals, I strongly believe that emphasis should be placed on increasing control,” said Plovdiv Regional Governor Dani Kanazireva.
“The measures are not fulfilled, so we returned the access regime – in large hypermarkets of food and non-food products, up to 100 people will be allowed, with distance between them and mandatory use of masks,” he added.
He added: “If all of us as a society realize that it is up to us, we are responsible and follow the most basic measure across Europe: wearing a mask, I think we will have an effect next week.”
According to her, more than 200 people are already hospitalized in Plovdiv hospitals and the number of beds is currently 300.
