Aston Villa crushed champion Liverpool 7: 2 at Villa Park in the second shocking Premier League match today.
A few hours after Tottenham beat Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford, the Merseysiders recorded their first defeat of the season following an inexplicable collapse and for the first time under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership they scored 7 goals.
This is Klopp’s worst loss in his entire coaching career to date.
Olli Watkins broke out with a hat trick, which initially gave Villa a good lead in the 4th and 23rd minutes after assists from Jack Greenish.
For the first goal, the main foul was goalkeeper Adrián, who played in place of the injured Alison and made a mistake taking the ball.
In the 33rd minute, Mohamed Salah brought Liverpool back into the game, but just two minutes later John McGreen rose to 3-1 after a rebound that left Adrian defenseless.
Liverpool put in total pressure and the hosts could barely contain themselves on defense, but their counterattacks were devastating for the champions’ defense.
In the 39th minute, Liverpool’s defense hung up again and Olli Watkins scored his hat trick.
Ross Barkley rose to 5-1 in the 55th minute with his left foot after another happy rebound. Then Salah scored his second goal of the match by 2: 5.
The rain of goals did not stop and in the 66th minute Jack Greenish registered his name among the scorers, and for the third time in the afternoon a rebound prevented Adrián from intervening more successfully.
15 minutes before the end, Grilish scored one more time, then Villa missed to score more.
For Ollie Watkins, these were the first goals in the Premier League, and Aston Villa racked up a sensational total of 9 points after their first three games.
Liverpool also have 9 points after three wins and one loss.
