What is happening in Bulgaria is disgusting

Changing the electoral rules is a somewhat sad practice in Bulgaria. We must distinguish change from change. The recommendations of the Venice Commission are intended not to make fundamental changes to the Electoral Code. This was stated by the president of “Information Services” and former member of the CEC, Professor Mihail Konstantinov in the BNT “From the day” program.

“The last minute changes are peripheral,” he said.

“The resolution is a serious lack of legal maturity. It is a document that claims legal objectives. It calls for the violation of the Constitution. They call us to accept the Istanbul Convention. To change laws,” said the mathematician.

According to him, European texts are downright stupid. There is no miracle like automatic voting in Europe, says Professor Konstantinov categorically.

“What is happening in Bulgaria is disgusting. Here, everyone is opposed to the electoral process and confidence has been reduced to a minimum,” he said.

“The people who were sent to the electoral commissions are not doing their job. What else can the Bulgarian state do? The mistakes that are being made do not concern the outcome of the elections,” he said.

Professor Konstantinov reported that in Bulgaria everyone swears in the electoral process because they cannot admit their electoral failure. He asked us to be as objective as possible.

“GERB fell into the trap with the machines themselves. Let them answer why in Europe this is not the way to vote, and in Germany they prohibited that voting by decision of the Constitutional Court. I speak only with facts. “Vote with paper ballots. Ask yourself why. There are countries that have been voting by mail for 100 years. The Netherlands has eliminated them (the machines) because there is no secret ballot,” he explained.

During the four times the GERB won, the party did not organize the elections, recalled Professor Mihail Konstantinov.
