The next elections, with voting papers, but also by automatic voting. This was decided by the Legal Committee of Parliament, which voted on the amendments to the Electoral Code at second reading. The deputies instruct the Central Electoral Commission to buy or rent the machines.
Changes in the Electoral Code are included in the corresponding commission of parliament
The deputies of the legal commission rejected in second reading all the GERB proposals related to the Grand National Assembly. And they foresee that the deputies in it are elected according to a mixed system: 200 majority and 200 proportional.
“This is totally our proposal, you know the prime minister, so we stand up, we support him. We are focused on this: more representation of citizens and parties. The majority election is important,” said the president of the commission, Ana Alexandrova .
The Legal Commission supported GERB’s changes to automatic voting
“The Constitution, which provides that the electoral system of the Great National Assembly is the one that also applies to the ordinary National Assembly. Something that the GERB colleagues did not take into account “, argues Hristian Mitev of” United Patriots “his position” against “.
“The whole issue of the Supreme National Assembly is an irresponsible political feint on the part of GERB and we hope that it will stop as soon as possible. The problems we have can be solved with a new quality ordinary National Assembly and early elections, ”said Krum Zarkov of the BSP.
However, the commission approved the government’s proposal to vote by machine and ballots in the next elections.
IMRO wants the ballot number removed
“They are trying to reposition the paper in the big sections, which is largely aimed at making machine voting meaningless,” Zarkov said.
“Leaving only automatic voting means depriving any Bulgarian citizen who wants to vote on paper of having the opportunity to do so. At least 30 percent of Bulgarian citizens will not be able to vote,” Alexandrova added.
It was also agreed that the supply of the machines would be the responsibility of the CEC. However, it has not yet been decided whether they will be bought or rented, as happened in the last elections.
The deputies did not approve the IMRO proposal to eliminate the numbers on the ballots. They also rejected all of the MRF proposals, which include abolishing compulsory voting and not supporting anyone in the polling place.
