The coronavirus crisis is a great stress test for many systems, showing what works and what doesn’t, what to trust and what not to trust, ” Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev said in a BNT Panorama broadcast.
” Without a doubt, Bulgarian society and economy cannot remain in quarantine forever. We do data analysis every day. The government is eager to loosen the measures, but this poses many risks and may lead to the most unfortunate scenario where we have taken action early, and with the loosening, the situation will worsen, ” Donchev said.
“I want the measures to be liberalized as soon as possible. This will happen gradually and incrementally, with the risks generated being the main factor. Some countries are loosening the measures, but they are much stricter than ours. Bulgaria has the most liberal measures after Sweden. We have the advantage of presenting them early, ” added the deputy prime minister.
According to the data available to him, 55-60% of the economy in our country works.
” The crisis affects everyone differently. There are entire sectors that are currently frozen, but some industries have additional orders. However, the Bulgarian economy is extremely export oriented. If we lose our foreign markets, it means an economic disaster, ” said Tomislav Donchev.
Donchev defined the system to help companies in the crisis as simplified and expressed his conviction that for small companies it would be a real help, with a wide possibility of what kind of costs could be covered. According to him, our country is working on a model that is applied in other countries.
