At the moment, Bulgaria cannot approve the Republic of North Macedonia’s negotiating framework for EU accession in the form in which it is presented, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva told BTA.
He recalled that a meeting of the General Affairs Council would be held on November 10, at which the negotiating framework would be approved.
Sofia expects Skopje to faithfully implement the 2017 Friendship and Neighborhood Agreement.
Zaharieva pointed out that despite much speculation in the press in the Republic of North Macedonia, we have not wanted a change in the constitution, nor are our demands new, nor have we questioned the right to self-determination.
The problem is that the agreement is not being carried out in good faith, in our opinion, said our Chancellor.
Teams from the Foreign Ministries of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia are in intense daily negotiations in an attempt to resolve the issues of the conflict so that we can look further forward. We have time, but it is extremely short, Zaharieva warned.
As we recognize reality, they must recognize the past, he added.
