Bulgaria will donate part of each shipment of COVID-19 vaccines, which it has purchased directly from producers, in North Macedonia. The decision was made on the morning of the day of the government meeting in Sofia, at which the North Macedonia Health Minister Venko Filipce delivered a speech, reported the Skopje electronic edition “Republika”, as quoted by “Focus “.

“With this decision, the COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Bulgaria at the same time as other EU member states. Bulgaria, as a member of the EU, has had the privilege of negotiating directly with various manufacturers,” Filipche said. .

Thanks to this friendly act, with this donation we will soon start the vaccination process and facilitate access to vaccines so that we can vaccinate between 60 and 70% of the population. According to information from the Bulgarian health authorities, the vaccine will be delivered to Sofia first. At Pfizer, then Moderna, and finally Astra Zeneca, Filipche later wrote on the social network Facebook.

In addition to a donation from Bulgaria, vaccines will be provided to North Macedonia through the Covax mechanism.

The European Union has provided 400 million vaccines to member states and an additional 100 million to non-EU countries.

“Until now, Poland and Greece have offered this type of assistance to our southwestern neighbor. North Macedonia is negotiating with manufacturers the direct delivery of vaccines and of them,” Filipce wrote.
