We are currently in the phase of an epidemic outbreak: a simultaneous increase in the percentage of positives and the number, explained Dr. Lachezar Tomov, Ph.D., professor of information technology and researcher at the Center for Analysis and Management of Risks of the New Bulgarian University.
“In a week or two, it will continue to rise very steeply if no additional measures are taken to limit this growth,” Tomov was quoted as saying by BNR.
According to him, there is a very serious risk for the health system and for companies.
“There is a risk. We are currently in a phase that is not very well controlled,” Tomov insisted. According to him, we must not be afraid, but we must act wisely and manage the situation.
“Boldly going to a disco, especially if you are a student and then go to school, I would call it reckless, cruel and deadly,” he said.
“If the current phase of growth continues and is not controlled, very soon there will be no beds. No matter how many beds we have, there must be doctors for these beds. If a nurse cares for 40 seriously ill people who are in bed, intensively, it doesn’t help them, ”Lachezar Tomov said.
“We entered the risk zone at the end of September,” said the mathematician, adding: “A situation in which we open schools, leave discotheques open, leave work from home, in cities like Sofia, sooner or later will lead to an explosion”.
According to him, RHI does not have the infinite ability to capture each group in real time. “In such a phase, they can’t do good coverage,” added Lachezar Tomov.
“We don’t test fast enough, people go when the condition worsens, and with Covid-19 it is crucial to detect and treat it early,” he said, adding: “We detect them late because they are under-tested.” .
“The number of detected in our country is not very reliable. You can see how the percentage of positives and the number of detected are increasing at the same time, which is indicative that it is not very well proven,” said Tomov.
