The budget of the Bulgarian water and sewerage holding company has provided funds for the connection of the Poroy and Aheloy dams to the Burgas water supply system and timetables have been prepared so that this can be done as quickly as possible. This was announced today in the regional city by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolay Nankov, who attended the municipal council meeting together with the Minister of Ecology Emil Dimitrov.

The implementation of the project will provide an alternative for long-term water supply, Nankov said and recalled that in 10-15 years there are periods of drought, as in October 2007 the amounts of water in the Kamchia dam were similar to current . .

For Varna, the power supply will be provided by switching to the “Kitka” bypass. In order to reduce water losses in it, the pipe will be replaced by the European project financed by OPE. Contracts have already been signed and a public procurement has been announced.

“This will not be at the expense of the residents of Varna. There will be no increase in the price of water due to the pumping of the Kitka bypass, Nankov emphasized. He added that a mechanism has been developed to cover the losses of the supply operator. of water and sewerage This will allow the Burgas region to draw water from Kamchia for at least 2 more months.

Water for the use of “Kamchia” has fallen for another month, from 39 to 32.6 million cubic meters, making it even more limited.

“We are satisfied with the deadlines, they are extremely short and I am convinced that Vik-Burgas will meet this challenge. But we want more power for the company, because the whole burden will fall on it. He added that the municipality of Burgas will collaborate with the aqueduct and sewerage system in the plans of the plots, easements and detailed development plans in order to complete the “Poroy” and “Aheloy” works as soon as possible. According to the Minister of Ecology Dimitrov, by joining the diversion of “Kamchia” Burgas, guaranteed water for 11 months, even if it does not rain.
