Early in the morning of January 1, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic inaugurated the Balkan Stream gas pipeline. The country began to receive natural gas from Russia, which is transited through the territory of Turkey and Bulgaria.
The official ceremony took place at a gas metering station in the town of Gospodjintsi, not far from Novi Sad. It was broadcast live by the Tanjug news agency.
“Today is an important day for our country and our people. Serbia has become much richer after the gas leak. The price per cubic meter will be $ 155 upon entry with Bulgaria, plus $ 12-14 for costs of transportation in our network used to be $ 240, ”said Vucic.
The ceremony in Gospodjintsi was also attended by the Russian ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, the executive director of Serbiagas, Dusan Bayatovic, and representatives of the Russian companies that build Serbian gas pipelines.
“Bakanski Potok” is a continuation of the Russian “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline through the territory of Bulgaria and Serbia. Then the route continues to Hungary.
The total capacity of the inlet pipeline to Bulgaria is 19.3 billion cubic meters per year, and the production capacity is 12.7 billion cubic meters per year. The price of the pipeline through the Bulgarian territory is about 1,100 million euros without VAT.
