Coronavirus vaccines are also becoming more advanced in the final stages of their clinical trials with volunteers. This process is the last before obtaining approval and starting a mass vaccination against the virus.

Phase 3 trials are the last step required to approve vaccine distribution. At least 41 vaccines are being tested in humans worldwide, but only four are the large companies expected to operate in the United States after phase three: Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson. American doctors hope to have a safe and effective vaccine by the end of 2020.
However, it turns out that Moderna and Pfizer’s antidotes cause side effects in some of the volunteers. CNBC spoke with five volunteers who received doses of one of the two vaccines that described these symptoms. Most of them are tingling, fever, and headache, but also body aches and exhaustion.
Chills and fever from Modern vaccine
The first volunteer, a 44-year-old man who felt dizzy after the first injection of Moderna on August 18, turned cold and had a low temperature. He received the second dose on September 15 and eight hours later it caused fever, chills, chills, severe headache and shortness of breath. At 12 o’clock his condition began to normalize and he began to recover.
A 50-year-old woman first experienced a severe headache, but no fever after the initial dose of Moderna: “I suffered from a severe migraine, which left me exhausted for a day and unable to concentrate. I woke up the next day feeling better after taking Excedrin, but I think Moderna might need to warn patients to take a day off after a second dose, ”he recommended.
“People need to toughen up, the first dose is not who knows what.” But the second dose will definitely knock you out in a day. There should be a day off after the second dose, “the woman warned.
“I hope the vaccine works, but there must also be a clear explanation for the side effects,” the volunteer expected.
Other volunteers who tested the vaccine also added: “Although the sensations are not pleasant, it is worth it if it protects us from the coronavirus.”
A 20-year-old participant also experienced nausea after the first dose, but chills and fever followed. He immediately informs Moderna about these symptoms through an app, they respond to him immediately by phone. “But beyond that, it was good,” said the young man.
Pfizer injection severe pain
One participant in the Pfizer trial experienced severe arm pain: “I was like this all night after the first dose because of the pain from the injection.” She also has flu-like symptoms, such as chills, which Moderna volunteers also experienced.
But despite the discomfort after the dose, he added: “If approved, I think many people should get the vaccine and I hope everyone is aware of the side effects before the injection,” he said.
Regarding side effects, Pfizer spokeswoman Jerica Pitts cautioned: “Short-term fever, mostly mild to moderate in intensity, can be expected in a small number of patients receiving BNT162b2 30mcg. Safety and tolerability of our volunteers are constantly monitored by a Pfizer staff and an independent external data monitoring committee that has access to all the data, ”he said.
