Sebastian Vettel has rejected Ferrari’s latest proposal for a new contract.
The four-time Formula One world champion is under contract, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he has not been fascinated by the offer of his current employers.
The Italians offered Vettel a deal for another year, but with a salary more than two and a half times lower. Currently, the German receives 40 million euros a year, and the Scuderia’s offer was for a reward of 12 million euros.
Therefore, the possibility of dividing the paths of the Italians and Vettel seems more real, and the Maranello team even has a list of possible substitutes.
It can be inherited from Daniel Ricardo (Renault), Carlos Sainz (McLaren) and Antonio Giovinaci (Alpha Romeo), who would have no problem being number 2 after Charles Leclair.
The young Ferrari star made a great 2019 season and finished ahead of Vettel in the final standings, and with his behavior he repeatedly demonstrated that he was ready to play the role of lead driver.
