Famous restaurateur Veselin Denkov and his partner, model Ivayla Bakalova, were arrested at the Kalotina border checkpoint, Scandal says, referring to the police officers at the checkpoint. They came from Italy, where they were on vacation.
According to investigators, the arrests are due to Denkov, who was part of the disbanded group of Pifa and Gargata.
Vesselin Denkov is considered the number one lender in Bulgaria. Ivo Pifa works with his money, the researchers say. He is accused along with Ivo Maslarov, with whom they blackmailed Stanka Marangozova before his murder. The case was returned to the prosecution, but is expected to be taken to court again.
BLIC recalls that Stanka Marangozova was shot dead on October 10 of last year. He has a long-standing conflict with Ivo Maslarov. In 2009, he signed a management contract with her for 150,000 euros, from which he expected high returns when investing in stocks and shares. He then blackmailed his victim for the money she gave him and then ordered him to pay it back.
The criminal Atanas Mechev-Gargata and the moneylender Lyulin Ivaylo Govedarev-Pifa were arrested a few days ago during a specialized police operation in Sofia. They were arrested for drugs and pressure and threats against debtors.
The famous restorer Vesko Bradata or Vesko Vodenitsata has a long-standing relationship with Ivayla Bakalova. He lives in his apartment in Dubai. It is unclear whether he will remain in custody after his arrest.
