While Vera’s parents, musicians by profession, were touring Scandinavia, she was born in Finland. Although she was breastfed with music, she never did it professionally. She loves art, painting, playing the piano, but her dream is to be an actress. So he enrolled in acting classes in Los Angeles, where he later lived, and began appearing at castings. Then her dream of going to the movies came true.
Vera Yordanova has participated in several Finnish series and films. His first big role was in Hostel 2 – “Hotel of Horrors 2”. The horror is directed by Eli Roth and produced by Quentin Tarantino himself.
“We shot for three months in Prague. It was interesting to see how Hollywood productions are made, it was a very good experience.”
The Bulgarian actress got to know the legendary filmmaker shortly after the filming of the film. “Tarantino and I met in the studio when we were shooting the movie, then we met at the premiere. We sat down with the whole crew and talked. Quentin Tarantino is extremely talented, a genius, you can see it in his speech. A great gentleman , a very nice and good man ”.
The premiere of “Hotel of Horrors 2” is in 2007, but so far the film has enjoyed great interest from horror fans.
His encounter with Quentin Tarantino is not the only one with world famous personalities. Vera Yordanova’s life brings her many pleasant and memorable acquaintances. At age 14, Vera, very tall and thin, had an offer to start working as a model. She agrees to earn extra money in the summer and her decision opens the door to the world. “I love traveling, I am interested in learning about new cultures, cooking is a part that makes me curious. I like to collect little stories, like why French fries are called French fries in English”, says the actress. At just 17 years old, He moved to Paris for five years, has lived in Barcelona, in South Africa – Cape Town, in Italy, Latin America, in recent years in the United States – Los Angeles, New York, Miami. Thanks to his work as a model, he met fashion greats such as Karl Lagerfeld, models Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer. “I met a lot of great people in fashion, like the great photographer Helmut Newton, who was a great moment for me,” explains Vera.
For her, the work of the model is like that of the athlete. “You start young, you have to be strong because there is a lot of criticism around you, you grow fast and become independent, you also need discipline. A model’s career ends early, just like athletes. There are also many dangers, so you have to be careful. For me, home schooling played a huge role, because I was still alone in the big world.
The other great passion of Vera Yordanova, besides painting, listening to music, playing the piano, is cooking. In general, he loves “anything related to creating some emotion in other people.” The actress now has no free time and hopes that after filming “Scars” she will have the opportunity to dedicate herself more to cooking. “I want to dedicate myself to this gift of mine because it really gives me a lot. I love everything that makes time fly. When you don’t know where you are, what time it is, if you’re hungry or not, it means you’re doing something nice and meaningful. “
A few years ago, Vera published her own cookbook in Finland, in which she described 100 recipes and various stories from her life. They are related to the gastronomy of the countries in which he lived.
The actress’s passion for cooking comes from her grandmother. When Vera is between 6 and 7 years old, her parents leave her with her grandmother in Bulgaria to take care of her. “She was a vegetarian and she made amazing dishes, a little different from the others. She understood what we now call healthy eating, she practiced it back then. I got my first inspiration from her. Then when I was 12-13 years old, I started cooking on my own. , making cakes and various other things. My mother is also an amazing cook and prepares the best food in the world for me. We love getting together at parties for a holiday, we both think together about the menu and what to prepare for the guests. This is ours way to have fun, ”says the actress.
His favorite place to this day is his mother’s house in the village of Kapitan Dimitrievo., between Pazardzhik and Peshtera. Next to it there is a nice path from where you can see the Rhodopes. She ran there as a child and now carries her 4-year-old son Kieran. They both like to walk through the fields with lavender and poppies. There she often photographed him and regularly told him stories about his childhood. “Here, when my mother was little, she ran regularly, she ran her bicycle up this hill, but I don’t know if she still understands what it means for my mother to be little,” says the actress.
The boy still does not know Bulgarian well, because his father is Colombian and they speak Spanish and English at home. According to Vera Yordanova, her son does not look like her because she is an introvert, and he is very sociable and is not ashamed of anyone. “He is always the loudest in kindergarten, he is hyperactive, he likes to paint, he is interested in cooking, he knows the planets, he is very curious,” he says. However, when she was a child, the actress was also a mischievous girl who played with children, climbed trees and made targets.
After the three-month period of filming for the “Scars” series is over, Vera will certainly miss him. You will also miss the colleagues you work with. Her on-screen husband is actor Valentin Ganev, Anastasia Lyutova is Vera’s sister, Klimentina Fartsova and Balena Landzheva take on the roles of their daughters, and Ivo Arakov plays her adopted son Nikola. But then comes the other great emotion: how it will be received by the audience. “After ‘Scars’, my plan is to take a break, stay in Bulgaria, enjoy this beautiful spring that is coming and then I will see what projects I will start,” says Vera Yordanova.
