The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media Vezhdi Rashidov wrote an open letter to President Rumen Radev.
In his letter, Rashidov reminded the president of his visit to Turkey on the occasion of the inauguration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“At the airport we had a human conversation about the future of Bulgaria, about respect for institutions, about ordinary things and the fact that we are fellow citizens, we were born in the same city,” Rashidov wrote. He says that at that time he promised himself that at no time would he allow negative reactions to either Radev or the presidential institution. “But today I am witnessing the destruction of the state with the dominance of anarchy, hatred and cruelty,” Rashidov added.
Remember the difficult moments of Petar Mladenov with democracy, of Zhelyu Zhelev with Andrei Lukanov, of Georgi Parvanov (who I think is probably the most successful president we had in the transition) with Ivan Kostov, of Petar Stoyanov with Simeon Saxe-Coburg- Gotha, to Rosen Plevneliev with Plamen Oresharski, Rashidov wrote to the current president.
He asks Radev a series of questions: Where were you as president at the beginning of the pandemic? Isn’t this a real national security problem? After all, the National Security Council is one of the main tools for solving crises and reaching consensus in society. I ask you, aren’t we all Bulgarian citizens, aren’t you our president? Don’t you want me, like me, to live in evolution, not in an eternal revolution?
Please, Mr. President, take office and take the country out of this boiling cauldron, because this country belongs to all of us, Rashidov concludes in his letter.
