The tourist who died in one of yesterday’s incidents in the Botev Peak area is the famous DJ Emotion from Varna, Moreto.net learned.

We remind you that the fatal accident happened yesterday around noon in the area of the Zhaltets peak (Sara Kaya), about 4 km. west of Botev Peak.

Two tourists were going in the direction of Dobrila’s cabin, and their plan was to pass through the so-called alpine ridge on the mountain, Moreto.net learned

The late Todor J. and his friend celebrated the New Year at the Tazha hut, and on January 1 they climbed Botev Peak. On January 2 they made a transition in the direction of the Dobrila hut, and their goal was to reach Beklemeto in 2 days.

A man and a woman, experienced tourists, who met them at the Botev peak, persuaded them for hours not to take the risky transition, it is clear from a post on the social network. However, his words failed to dissuade Todor and his partner from his intentions.

Part of the route between Botev Peak and Dobrila Hut, also known as the Stara Planina Alpine Ridge, is extremely complex and dangerous in winter conditions, and its journey requires special alpine skills and equipment.

The fatal accident actually occurred on the first steep and dangerous slope, that of the descent from Zhaltet Peak. Right there, on the way down, Todor slips and glides about 300 meters down the icy and rocky slope. His death was later established and the body was scheduled to be exported today. However, the operation to remove the body was postponed due to fog and hurricane winds.

The action was delayed this morning precisely because of bad weather, but it still started on the south side of Botev Peak.

The mayor of Karlovo, Emil Kabaivanov, told “Horizon” that the body of the tourist who died yesterday and his companion, who was rescued and is in good condition, are in the “Botev” shelter. There are also two other tourists from Sopot, who are also in good condition.

However, all four cannot be taken out of the mountains due to bad weather conditions. It is not yet clear whether this will be possible today due to the wind and fog from the hurricane in the Stara Planina region.

A rescuer from the mountain, who requested anonymity, commented to Moreto.net that if the two tourists had overcome the descent of the Zhaltets peak and continued in the direction of the alpine ridge, there would probably now be two victims. According to him, the terrain is extremely dangerous and the winter crossing in the current conditions with snow and ice can only be done by climbers with the necessary equipment, equipment and safety.

The PSS says that the reason for all the accidents in the first two days of the year is mainly the underestimation of the conditions in the winter mountains and more precisely the snow conditions, as well as the lack of adequate equipment. The victims were without cats or used tourist cats that were not suitable for the conditions at the time.

We remind you that yesterday in the Pico Botev area, in addition to the fatal incident, there were several others in which 4 people were injured. On the first of January, another tourist passed on the way to Botev Peak.

Due to the weekend, the calm and sunny weather, many tourists have started yesterday the ascent to the peak of Stara Planina. However, the entire terrain was icy and climbing without specialized equipment (cats and pickles) was a serious risk for tourists.

Todor Zhelyazkov has been a part of the Varna club scene for 27 years. Under the pseudonym DJ Emotion he present daily in the musical life of the coastal town, and not only there. Over the years he has witnessed and participated in most of the city’s musical revolutions, co-founded the group Deep Zone, and in 2001 it is part of the biggest hip-hop tour in the history of Bulgarian music: Misho Shamara’s “My” tour. But the main reason his colleagues respect him and music lovers adore him is that he sticks to his own style and is one of the most well-intentioned people you’ll ever meet.
