Vanya Grigorova, economic adviser to the Podkrepa Labor Confederation, was cited “as a reference” to the General Directorate of the National Police through a signal from the Bulgarian Association of Supplementary Pension Insurance Companies.

In the study of “120 minutes” he explained how the interrogation went. He pointed out that he had not received a copy of the complaint, but regarding the information he presented in the media, he replied that he supported his words because it was public data from the Financial Supervision Commission, NSSI and scientific publications.

“I definitely support all the allegations, after I said it, I confirmed it. Regarding the ‘financial pyramid’, I quote exactly what is written: ‘It is important to have new contributions from these private pension companies. In this way, they achieve make a profit The mechanism of action of the “financial pyramids” is similar, Grigorova said.

According to her, the problem is in the way of deducting fees from personal accounts, providing profits to companies, even when they lose amounts due to social security contributions.

“A concrete example: in 2018, one of these companies lost BGN 170 million at the hands of its insured. In 2019 there was an increase in the funds in the accounts, but in 2018 they reported profit after tax of BGN 16.4 million. Is it normal for the people you represent to have losses, to report profits? “He commented.

Grigorova pointed out that the Social Assistance Code offers a guarantee, according to which when paying UPF pensions, if the funds do not cover the gross contributions, then the company will have to pay an extra.

“If your contribution in 2002 was BGN 2, then the purchasing power of these BGN 2 in 2002 is not equal to the purchasing power in 2020. Since the law stipulates that at least gross contributions be covered, this means that there are cases in which the gross contributions are not available in the accounts of the insured ”, he added.
