“It is easier to close schools. We do it centrally, we sacrifice the quality of education, we damage the psyche of children, we make parents stay at home. However, we choose the option of acting locally to have the maximum training. face-to-face, because we believe it is the best, as announced by the Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev, in the study of “Hello, Bulgaria”.
RECORD: 2,243 new COVID-19 cases, 42 people died
There are currently 469 students and 453 teachers infected with COVID-19. “It is impressive that there are many more teachers as a percentage. They are infected much more frequently and reach symptoms and diseases,” he added. He added: “The educational system is not isolated from what is happening in the country.”
“Even if we get to a partial curriculum, our goal is to have maximum attendance. It is easier to close all schools, but that means sacrificing the right of children to education,” Valchev was categorical.
According to him, at the moment there are no easy solutions, but there are threshold values that have been presented by the Minister of Health. “If 15% of the students or teachers of a school are absent due to symptoms such as COVID-19, the school closes. Respectively – 20% of the class,” the Minister recalled.
The government in quarantine, is the school year also in danger? (OVERVIEW)
He announced that in recent weeks the number of absent students who sneeze and cough has increased. The teachers return them and mark them. “The goal is instead of closing 10% of the municipalities or districts, to close the schools where there is a problem. At the moment, we are refraining from closing central schools, “Valchev emphasized.
“The moods that prevail at the moment are for face-to-face training, but they change very easily when there are 1-2-3 infected, God forbid, and dead,” he added.
“At the state level, we do not foresee a complete transition to e-learning. We will probably get there if the situation with COVID-19 becomes significantly complicated or in the weeks of seasonal flu viruses,” the Minister of Education was categorical.
