The Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov, presented the National Vaccination Plan in Bulgaria. It became clear that five phases of immunization had developed.

The minister explained that the plan was prepared together with specialists, following the instructions of the World Health Organization, plans of the member states: Germany, France and Italy, as well as one of a US state.

According to Professor Angelov, the plan is consistent with the dynamics of the situation in the country.

The phases developed for the vaccination of Bulgarian citizens include:

Phase i: Medical personnel of medical institutions for outpatient and hospital care, medical specialists in health care, dentists, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and other support personnel. People are at high risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 and can transmit the infection to populations at risk. Immunization will allow them to continue fulfilling their professional commitments.

Total vaccine: 243,600

Phase ii: Users and staff of social institutions, pedagogical specialists and staff of mink farms.

Total vaccine: 112,080

Phase III: Employees involved in maintaining the functioning of the basic activities of public life.

Their number depends on the lists compiled by RHI.

Phase IV: Elderly and older than 65 years and people with concomitant chronic diseases due to the more severe course of the disease and the increased risk of developing complications and death, including immunosuppressed people or those with secondary immunodeficiencies.

Total vaccine: 1,800,000

Phase V: Vulnerable groups of the population due to high epidemiological risk of contagion related to their living conditions and way of life.

Immunization against coronavirus of the target groups will be carried out according to previously prepared lists.

Area 3: Razgrad, Targovishte, Shumen, Varna, Dobrich and Silistra.

Area 4: Sofia – city, Sofia region, Pernik, Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad.

District 5: Pazardzhik, Smolyan, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Haskovo and Kardzhali.

Regarding logistics, the minister explained that for people in the first phase, the vaccine will reach medical institutions. It will be based on lists of people who want to be vaccinated.

Regarding outpatient and outpatient care specialists, pharmacists and assistants, dentists and support staff, Angelov clarified that vaccines can be administered by general practitioners.

For the people involved in the third phase, the health authorities intend for the vaccine to reach them.

It is expected that mobile teams will be established to meet the country’s needs and that vaccines will reach people.

“The entire state resource will provide and guarantee the access of all Bulgarian citizens to a vaccine,” added Professor Angelov.

People will have the right to choose which of the vaccines ordered to receive, it was clear in the information session of the health authorities.

“The principles of vaccination that we have been discussing from the beginning are that it should be free and voluntary. This volunteering also implies that the person chooses it ”, added the Minister of Health.

Prof. Angelov expressed the need for an ethical decision-making structure that will be offered to the Bulgarians.

The line minister announced that today two refrigerators for vaccines will be installed in Bulbio, and at the end of the day there will be one at the RHI in Sofia. The device is expected to be installed at RHI-Burgas on Saturday.

Government announces vaccination plan against COVID-19 (SUMMARY)

The first meeting of the National Vaccination Headquarters will be held today at 3:00 p.m. The objectives are acceptance, compliance with the conditions of vaccines and specification of the expected quotas for vaccination, specified Professor Krassimir Gigov.

“We hope that the Headquarters will fulfill its tasks. Many of the points that will be considered have been consulted with the relevant medical and branch agencies,” added his boss.

The Head of State Health Inspectors, Prof. Angel Kunchev, noted that Bulgaria has dropped one place in terms of morbidity in the European Union. Thus, we already occupy the 12th position.

“Unfortunately, the 14-day mortality rate is high and we are in first place in this indicator. I am convinced that if we follow the measures, we will succeed,” said Associate Professor Kunchev.

Angelov clarified that Bulgaria’s first place in terms of mortality has been studied from the beginning.

“We follow the cases and analyze them. There is a trend in our country that is absent in Europe: the self-treatment of a large part of the people who enter medical institutions and their postponement to meeting with a doctor.” Almost all those who they have died they have sought medical help late, “warned the Minister of Health.

He explained that 51% of beds for patients without complications are occupied. 40% corresponds to the occupation of beds for people who need intensive care. The highest percentage of filled beds is found in Shumen and Yambol.
