The Manchester United team needs four or five new players to catch up with Liverpool Premier League leaders, former Red Devils forward Andy Cole. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is fifth in the league, 37 points behind Liverpool.
However, the Red Devils are beginning to show signs of improvement at Solskjaer, but the Manchester United legend believes that his former club still needs to hire some players to keep the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City.
“It is a question of a million dollars, whatever we buy to try to close the gap, Liverpool and Manchester City will try to buy to open it even more,” Cole told MEN.
“It’s like Formula One, once one team closes the gap, it seems like another team is doing something to widen it.” Liverpool will win the league for the first time in 30 years, you think, “How the hell did it take so long,” that’s because the difference keeps growing. “What will it take? With four, possibly five players, the difference will start to close and confidence will increase.”
Cole, who was part of the Manchester United team that won the last year from 1998-99, added:
“I think it’s a winning mindset. We’ve always had this winning mindset, the workouts were fierce, but the friendship is fantastic, it was amazing. We all had the same goal at the end of the season and that was to win. Once you have that guy of things, that’s half the battle, “Cole said.
