North Korea has successfully miniaturized its nuclear weapons, continued to build ballistic missiles, and used various ingenious means to evade sanctions, from smuggling coal to sending workers abroad. This is stated in a new UN report, quoted by the British newspaper The Times.
A new report by experts appointed by the International Security Council highlights the ineffectiveness of sanctions aimed at pressuring Kim Jong Un to give up his weapons of mass destruction, FOCUS reported.
The document confirms in detail what many foreign experts have known for a long time: that North Korea is making decisive progress in nuclear and missile technology. Although the sanctions, as well as the country’s self-isolation during the new coronavirus pandemic, have had their economic effects, the Pyongyang regime is still finding ways to buy and sell prohibited products on international markets, experts say.
