A Ukrainian translator was found dead with an envelope over her head and handcuffs in her apartment in Turkey, the Daily Mail reported.
Kristina Novitskaya, 30, was found at her home in the Aegean resort of Bodrum on Saturday. The death occurred a few days before.
The front door and windows were locked from the inside, with no signs of violence.
According to the police, the main version is suicide, but the translator’s friends say that the “lover of life” and the “cheerful” Novitskaya would not end his life.
However, they say she was secretive about her personal life in Turkey, where she lived and worked as a translator and dance instructor.
“We do not believe he committed suicide,” a friend of the translator told the Obozrevatel in Kiev. According to the Turkish police, she was depressed about losing her job due to the pandemic, but did not reveal the exact cause of death.
After her family, friends and neighbors were unable to contact her, they called the police.
His body was found sitting on a chair in the middle of the room. She was handcuffed and had a plastic bag over her head, according to reports. Ropes, coals and a scarf were also found at the scene, but the cause of death was not reported.
The body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
According to Turkish police reports, the door was locked from the inside and the key was in the lock.
Her friends described allegations that she was depressed from the pandemic as bizarre. They hinted at a senior associate in Turkey, but did not provide further details.
