The deaths in the country where COVID-19 was detected were 72 after two new people infected with coronavirus died today, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
At the Vidin Regional Hospital, a man died at the age of 80. The patient suffered from ischemic heart disease, chronic heart failure, and a heart attack. The second death is from Pleven. An 82-year-old woman who had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic heart failure died. Earlier in the day, a 68-year-old man, suffering from heart and respiratory failure, died at Blagoevgrad Hospital. These are the three victims of the coronavirus today.
The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our country are 1594 according to data from the national operational headquarters at 5 pm, the press center of the Ministry of Health reported.
Six more new cases have been tested to date: three in Sliven and one in Stara Zagora, Yambol and Sofia. The labs continue to work.
Establishments in the country with confirmed COVID-19 have capacity for 321 people. Of these, 40 are in intensive care units and clinics. A total of 795 of the COVID-19 cases registered in Bulgaria are for men and 799 for women.
The number of medical officers confirmed to have coronavirus infection is 174. Today it was reported that the first death of a doctor in Bulgaria in the battle with the coronavirus was reported in Sliven last night. On Thursday morning, Dr. Iliyana Ivanova, 43, entered the infectious ward where she worked as a patient. Later she was resurrected. On Friday morning she was intubated and in the afternoon she lost her battle against the disease.
Dr. Ivanova had asthma, but at the moment she had no problems with the disease and the virus had not exacerbated it. It got worse and her heart stopped. Her husband, who is her colleague from the same infectious neighborhood, is in quarantine and cannot leave him.
