The Turkish government has launched an initiative to certify coronavirus resorts. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism in our southern neighbor, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, quoted by the Hurriyet Daily News and Monitor.

“First we will develop an internationally accepted certification system,” he explained, adding that officials from the Ministries of Health, Transportation and Agriculture would join the certification committee.

The Commission will also involve non-governmental organizations. The certification system is expected to be completed in the first week of May. In the end it will be organized to receive certificates from the tourist complexes.

The tourism minister also expressed his hope that domestic tourist traffic will resume after contagion control measures cease in mid-May.

At the beginning of the year, before the coronavirus crisis, Turkey sought to reach 60 million tourists. According to official figures, in 2019 they totaled 51.9 million. Tourism revenue in the country reached $ 34.5 billion last year, a record, according to statistics.
